Helping Families Through Some of Life's Toughest Moments
June 14, 2026

Little Miracles Trust, is helping families navigate the uncertainty of having a baby in Neonatal Intensive Care. From warm meals and practical support to meaningful connections with other parents, they're making some of life's toughest days a little easier.
Over 200 meals have been provided to families with a baby in Wellington NICU so far this year, and it is so comforting for whānau to know there are meals on hand to access during these stressful times. Often the last thing they want to think about is cooking. A warm meal at the end of a long day can bring such comfort and the Little Miracles Trust are proud to be able to make this possible.
The Little Miracles Trust supports the whānau of premature and critically ill babies who are in Neonatal Intensive Care throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. In addition to working one-on-one cot side with families, their teams also hand out emergency care packs to parents when they first come into the unit. Regular morning teas and lunches provide important opportunities to forge connections and start conversations, while also delivering essential items and information.
Another important area of support is partnering with other amazing organisations, such as Topor Restaurant in Plimmerton, and fellow charity Bellyful, to provide nutritious heart-warming meals to Mums and Dads who are spending all day, every day, at their babies cot side.
Little Miracles Trust unit teams consistently get feedback from parents saying “these home-made meals have been a life saver, and have made the challenge of being in a NICU for weeks on end alot easier…it’s one less thing for us to have to think about.”
Meals are kept in the Little Miracles Trust freezer at the hospital and are available to families when rooming in with their baby or for anyone who needs a wholesome meal.

The impact of kai and connection is so important:
“The support and care given to us at the lunches hosted by Little Miracles Trust has been invaluable. My wife and I always look forward to sharing some kai and unwinding talking to other parents in NICU. A chance to connect with others in similar circumstances outside of the clinical area has been so important to building our resilience. The jokes and stories shared during these lunches lifts us both and lightens the weight on our shoulders." ~Ben, Dad to Marcy born at 26 weeks and currently in Wellington NICU
