The Period Place is the largest menstrual justice charity working towards period equity in Aotearoa. We do this through advocacy, outreach, education, promotion and our nationwide period product donation programme.
Working with our Impact Partners (health services, charities, foodbanks, maraes, iwi + community organisations), we co-design sustainable and culturally-safe initiatives and have:
- donated 1.1 million+ disposable and 10k reusable products
- facilitated and provided menstrual education for thousands of people in Aotearoa (whether they get a period or not!) in the form of brochures, workshops, The Period Place Podcast, and reduced menstrual stigma for hundreds of thousands of people in Aotearoa through social and traditional media.
In 2020 we created the Period Inequity Ladder – a model of change across 4 rungs that shows where every person who gets a period in Aotearoa stands. We identified the fourth or bottom rung has 70,000 people on it – these people have no access to period education or products every month (*this is with pre-Covid data).
We want to eliminate that fourth rung by the end of 2023, so that every girl, woman and person who gets a period has at least sustained access to basic menstrual health education (physical or digital brochure) and period products.
This means we need to be servicing 70,000 periods a month nationwide. With your support, we can get more period products to more partners every month. Knowing they can rely on us every time they need us is the most important thing.
